About
Embodied movement has been my deep joy and a life-long exploration. I believe that movement is life, and where there is flow there is pulsation, abundance, creativity and growth. I come from an intellectual background, but I discovered that unless my body was included, it wouldn't be possible for me to really get anywhere. My studies have literally taken me around the world pursuing understanding of anatomy, self, and mind-body connection. I have had the honor of studying flamenco in Spain, West African dance in Senegal, bellydance in New York, and contemporary dance in Seattle. My studies in the Gyrotonic Expansion System have been a revolution for me in my own structure and in my teaching career. I have had the privelege of studying with master trainers in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and New York and I have been teaching private sessions in the Gyrotonic method since 2012.
I've experienced chronic pain and deep frustrations in my own body, and being a creature of relentless curiosity, I have literally traveled the planet looking for answers. I've tried every somatic modality and dance technique I could find. I've worked with extraordinary mentors - Aileen Passloff of Judson Dance Church in New York, and Jill Ableson, founder of SPRe bodywork in Seattle - who have taught me many tools with great heart. I've discovered that our emotional patterns and physical patterns are intertwined. I've learned that we human beings - you, and me - are not problems that need solving. We are people who need understanding. And that there is no learning without laughter.
It has been my privilege over the last 15 years to teach modalities as wide-ranging as yoga, bellydance, partnering, creative dance, flamenco, hip hop, ballet, and writing to people ages 2-82. I've taught at arts reatreats, in community centers, in colleges and boutique studios. I've been honored to choreograph and perform dance work in Israel, Canada, New York and Seattle on rooftops, in tiny theaters, and concert halls.
I now offer private sessions of what I believe to be the best of the best, the cream of all my movement training and anatomy studies. I love the logic and wildness of the human body; the elegance of anatomy and the creativity of compensation. I adore what I do and there is nothing I love more than connecting with clients and finding our shared language. I have found Gyrotonic training and SPRe bodywork to be the most efficient, delightful, and fascinating methods for co-creating transformation for your unique body. Together we discover movement, build strength and develop flexible options that lend you greater comfort and enjoyment of your own life.
