About

Beatrice has been teaching GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® since 2006. She decided to become a certified instructor in her early twenties after she experienced how the GYROTONIC® Expansion System Method could enable her to recover her full range of motion post injury. She also found that the work supports overall physical health and wellbeing.

The GYROTONIC® Expansion System Method has been proven to enhance coordination, improve alignment and over all body function, alleviate compression in the spine, improve self-awareness and build mental focus. Sessions will leave clients feeling toned, elongated and rejuvenated. Beatrice finds that these improvements lead to better body function as well as makes pain free living attainable for all. She loves sharing this wonderful knowledge and is committed to helping others.

Her clients range in age from infants to seniors and include dance students, professional dancers, actors, and singers, business professionals, academics, and ant/postnatal clients. Her dancer clientele has included students from The School of American Ballet, Studio Maestro (NYC), San Francisco Ballet School, the Westlake School for the Performing Arts (CA). She is currently working with students from Tring Park School for the Performing Arts and the English National Ballet School (UK).

Beatrice was trained by GYROTONIC® Master Trainers Leda Franklin and Deborah Rose. She was certified in GYROKINESIS® by Juliu Horvath and is in Master Trainer Jackson Kellogg's network. Additionally, Beatrice is certified on all of the GYROTONIC® specialized equipment as well as in the specialized course for Breast Cancer survivors, Dancers and Pre/Post natal. In order to deepen her understanding of the rehabilitation aspect of the system, she has also taken physical therapist, Paul Horvath's, Therapeutic Workshops for the Pelvic Girdle, the Shoulder Girdle, and Scoliosis. She has worked as an instructor for GYROTONIC® New York at Studio Riverside/ GYROTONIC® New York (2006-2008) and for San Francisco GYROTONIC® (2008-2011).

Also a dance teacher, Beatrice has developed her own “Therapeutic Ballet Technique” class. Over the past 15 years she has taught all levels, including professional open classes, at such schools as: Center of Dance in der Kulturbrauerei and Motions Dance Studios (Berlin), Alonzo King LINES Dance Center (San Francisco), Steps on Broadway and the School of Ballet Hispanico (NYC).

In 2014, she presented a summary of her book in progress about injury prevention and rehabilitation for young dancers at the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science Annual Meeting in Basel, Switzerland. The book is planned for release in 2020.

Additionally, Beatrice brings her knowledge from her ongoing twenty-year career as a professional dancer to her teaching. She has danced with such companies as: The English National Ballet, The Washington Ballet, The Metropolitan Opera Ballet, and Pfalztheater Kaiserslautern, Germany. Her repertoire includes numerous works by George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Marius Petipa, Fernando Bujones, Septime Weber, Donald Byrd and Trey McIntyre. She has also performed in musical theater productions such as West Side Story, operas, and operettas. She was also the assistant choreographer to Friedrich Bührer (West Side Story). While in Berlin, she trained in Forsythe Technique under Tamas Geza Moriscz. She credits her extensive work with her mentor Jo Siska, in combination with the GYROTONIC® Expansion System Method, for her ability to continue dancing pain free. Currently, Beatrice is working as a dancer/actress/choreographer in the UK film industry and she loves being a part of The Playground community at Rambert.

Beatrice enjoys teaching all ages and abilities, dancers and non-dancers alike. However, she has a special interest in helping young dancers and working with women ante/postnatally. She brings her love of movement to everything she teaches. Sessions are also available in fluent German.

Beatrice would especially like to thank Debra Rose and Leda Franklin for everything they have done for her. Leda was a truly gifted teacher and healer who’s work Beatrice is proud to carry on. She is very grateful to Davi Edelbeck for her kindess of heart and wonderful generousity in offering me the great opportunity to be a part of the amazing team at Chicago Center for Body Movement.
