Virginia Holte has been educating Hawaii's community in dance and movement modalities since 1986.
As the Founder and Artistic Director of West Hawaii Dance Theatre & Academy, Ms Holte brings traditional classical ballet training and performance opportunities for all ages and abilities to the Big Island Of Hawaii. Audiences have viewed full length ballets such as The Nutcracker, Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, Sylvia, Swan Lake, Giselle, Gaite Parisienne to name a few.
To complement classical ballet training, Ms Holte saw the need to bring Juliu Horvath's brillant GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® to her students, thus taking her on the GYROTONIC® adventure. Ms. Holte sought out locations that Juliu was teaching and was fortunate to receive her training and certifications from Juliu Horvath himself. As allowed, she travels yearly to continue her studies with Juliu, bringing the most current information back for her students and collegues.
Virginia is thrilled to share her lifelong passion for movement and is honored to be one of Juliu's GYROTONIC®, GYROKINESIS® and Specialized Equipment Master Trainers.
Her classes, client sessions, and Teachers Trainings are holistically taught with care and consideration to suit each individual’s needs. Injury prevention and rejuvenation are top priority.
All GYROTONIC® & GYROKINESIS® course offerings are available and may be scheduled by request in Hawaii or at your location.

A graduate of the Academy of the Washington Ballet, Washington D.C under the direction of the Mary Day, Ms Holte enjoyed a professional career in Classical Ballet that spans over three decades.
As a professional dancer, Ms. Holte performed extensively with major dance companies, including the Washington Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Chicago Ballet and Indianapolis Ballet Theatre, touring both nationally and internationally. She was often invited to perform as a Guest Artist, with the New Jersey Ballet, Hawaii Youth Symphony, Indiana Ballet Theatre N.W. and the Ballet Gala Internationale.
As an instructor, she received certification in both the Cecchetti and Vaganova methods of Classical Ballet, a teaching Certificate from the National Ballet of Canada. Other movement modalities certifications include Pilates Mat & Equipment from the Physical Mind Institute, Zena Rommett Floor Barre® Ashtanga Yoga , Primary, Second and Third Series, studying with Norman Allen, Nancy Guilgoff,and Shri K.Patthabi Jois. Ms. Holte created her own ballet syllabus, which combines the best of all three methodologies and incorporates injury prevention for young dancers.
The addition of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® brings a full complement of movement modalities and injury prevention to the Hawaiian Islands & beyond.
