About
Karen Grady has been teaching the GYROTONIC® Method since 2008 and has been a dedicated student of the work since 2004. She was first introduced to the Method while studying dance at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance.
Following graduation, Karen performed with local professional dance companies while teaching GYROTONIC® as an independent contractor throughout the Seattle area. In 2015, she founded PIVOT Movement Studio in Bellevue, Washington, creating the movement community she had envisioned since arriving in Seattle as a young dance student. What began as a dream of building a space centered on movement, learning, and connection has grown into a thriving studio community serving the Eastside, including Bellevue and Mercer Island.
Today, PIVOT Movement Studio provides high-quality movement education through the GYROTONIC® and Methods while supporting a vibrant community of instructors through mentorship, continuing education opportunities, professional development, and access to exceptional equipment. Karen is passionate about creating a joyful and collaborative work environment where teachers can build sustainable and meaningful careers.
In addition to her work as a studio owner and educator, Karen continues to guest teach for local dance studios, universities, and workshops throughout the Pacific Northwest. When she is not teaching, dancing, or studying movement, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking in the Pacific Northwest, and making creative salads.
