About

Born in Vancouver, Canada, Christie Cunningham completed her BA in Fine Arts and Kinesiology at the University of Calgary before pursuing a career as a professional dancer. She went on to perform with several companies and choreographers including La La La Human Steps with whom she toured to Europe in 2012.

Christie discovered the healing power of the Gyrotonic method in her personal experience with an injury. She sought out master trainers in Montreal, Boston and Freiburg and received her certification in Münstertal in October 2014. Christie also became a registered yoga and Pilates trainer.

Christie has worked with many professional dancers and athletes and has presented her research in the Gyrotonic Method at the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science conference in Basel, Switzerland as well as publishing articles on Injury prevention in dancers.

As an instructor, Christie’s approach is one that honours each student’s process in a safe environment where conscious sequencing, attention to alignment and breathing techniques are key. Her commitment is to inspire others to realize their own gifts and potential so that they may conquer their personal obstacles and realize their goals.
