About
Amanda founded The Movement Temple in October 2020 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, with the love and generosity of her late husband, David "Hans" Schoenburg.
Amanda has taught in numerous elite studios over the past 10 years, from Body Evolutions (NYC) and Physical Equilibrium (NYC) to San Francisco GYROTONIC® (San Francisco), The Olympic Club (San Francisco) and Fitwise Pilates (Bay Area). She has worked with all body types, from professional dancers, personal trainers, and physical therapists to post-stroke, post-surgery, and neurologically challenged clients.
As a passionate mover, Amanda loves to rock climb, hike, do aerial arts, acro-yoga, ski, snowboard, surf, and it all began with her passion for dance. Born and raised in Singapore, Amanda began her training under a full-time scholarship at Dance Circle Studios in 2007, where she honed her skills in modern and lyrical jazz, ballet, tap, hip-hop, salsa, and flamenco. She went on to further pursue a formal education in dance at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Singapore and graduated magma cum laude from the dance conservatory at SUNY Purchase in May 2012.
When diagnosed with scoliosis at the age of 13, Amanda took her first pilates session with machines to help her learn how to cope deal with her spinal imbalance by gaining great stability with core strengthening exercises. She later found The GYROTONIC® Method in Manhattan, NYC, and fell in love with this expansion system that brought her strength and flexibility to a whole other level she never thought she could achieve. Today, Amanda is a certified GYROTONIC® pre-trainer and GYROKINESIS® trainer, Pilates trainer, YOGABODY Breath Coach, YOGABODY Yoga Trapeze trainer, and the Melt Method Level 1 trainer. She incorporates her vast wealth of knowledge for movement in her teachings.
Amanda strongly believes in movement as medicine, lubricating your joints and enhancing your mind-body connection. Movement can and should be pain-free and fun at all ages.
