Q: How do I become a Certified GYROTONIC Trainer?

GYROTONIC Training: For a more thorough explanation of the GYROTONIC Certification Process, please use this link, Gyrotonic Level 1 Curriculum. Briefly, it is  highly recommended that you first take some private GYROTONIC lessons at any studio near you that offers such lessons before you enroll in the Training Courses. You can perform a search for the closest studio near you by clicking on the Main Studios link on the Studio Finder page. After taking some private lessons, with the assistance of the GYROTONIC Trainer you will be able to assess if you are physically prepared to enroll and participate in the Pre-Training Course, the first Course you will need to take if you want to become a Certified Trainer.

Once you feel that you are prepared to enroll in a GYROTONIC Pre-Training Course, you can then contact a Pre-Trainer to find out that Pre-Trainer's schedule and register for a course. Keep in mind that you can also take your initial GYROTONIC lessons prior to enrolling in the Pre-Training Course with a Pre-Trainer also. If you have taken beginning lessons with another Gyrotonic Trainer, the Pre-Trainer may require you to take a lesson or more lessons with her/him to be able to assess your abilities and  to see if you are ready to undertake the Pre-Training Course. To locate a GYROTONIC Pre-Trainer in your area, or in any city, state or country, please use the GYROTONIC Pre-Trainer Studios link on the Studio Finder page. If you successfully complete the Pre-Training Course, the Pre-Trainer will give to you the Pre-Training Qualification Agreement, which is your ticket or passport into a GYROTONIC Foundation Course, the second course you will need to take if you want to become a Certified Gyrotonic Trainer. Pre-Trainers reserve the right to decline giving to any student the Pre-Training Qualification Agreement, if the Pre-Trainer assesses that a student is not ready or prepared for the GYROTONIC Foundation Course.

The GYROTONIC Foundation Course is the second course you will need to complete if you want to become a Certified GYROTONIC Trainer. You have 3 months to enroll in a GYROTONIC Foundation Course once you complete the Pre-Training Course. Thus, it is easier if you research the schedules of Pre-Trainers and Master Trainers by contacting them so that you will be able to begin the Foundation Course within 3 months after completing the Pre-Training Course, getting "all of your ducks in a row", so to speak. You can take the GYROTONIC Foundation Course at any GYROTONIC Master Trainer Studio in the world. You can contact the Master Trainer of your choice to obtain her/his schedule. You can also take your initial GYROTONIC lessons and the Pre-Training Course at these Master Trainers' Studios.

Once you complete the 12-day, 60-hour Foundation Course, you are a Licensed GYROTONIC Trainer, on your way to becoming Certified, and you enter the Apprentice Period. At this stage you can begin teaching clients either in your own studio, if you have already purchased the Professional Pulley Tower, or you may teach in other studios if the owners of these studios have purchased a Pulley Tower. As an Apprentice, you will log hours on the Apprentice Log Sheet that you will receive at the Foundation Course. You both log the hours you accumulate by giving lessons to private clients, called Client Hours, and the hours spent with your Master Trainer during the Apprentice Period, called Supervised Apprentice Hours. Again, Client Hours you accumulate and note on your Apprentice Log Sheet, and you will meet with your Master Trainer either once or twice during the year-long Apprentice Period, and note also on the Log Sheet these Supervised Hours. Your Master Trainer will also explain the Apprentice Log Sheet to you at the Foundation Course. You have 1 year to get Certified after completing the Foundation Course, i.e the Apprentice Period can last up to a 1 year.

Keep in mind that you will network with your Master Trainer and Apprentice "under" her/him during the  1-year Apprentice Period, or with another Master Trainer should circumstances dictate that you switch Master Trainers.  However, you must complete all of your Supervised Apprentice Hours with one Master Trainer only, you cannot split your hours between 2 Master Trainers. And once you are Certified you may either complete your Continuing Education requirements with the Master Trainer with whom you have taken the Foundation Course, or with ONE other Master Trainer.

Once you have completed the necessary Client Hours and Master Trainer Supervised Hours, and after 6 months have elapsed since you completed the Foundation Course, you can then enroll in the 3-day, GYROTONIC Level 1 Certification Course. You can always see the Certification Schedule by clicking on the appropiate link on the main menu. The Gyrotonic Certification Course is a gateway and stepping stone to further advanced Courses. For instance, you must be Certified to enroll in any of the
Specialized Equipment Courses
or the Gyrotonic Level 2 Pulley Tower Course. Again, you have 1 year to complete the  3-day Certification Course once you complete the Foundation Course. After you complete the Foundation Course, but before you complete the Certification Course, you are an Apprentice and you can call yourself a Licensed GYROTONIC® Trainer. You can offer lessons to clients and you can advertise your services. Once you complete the Certification Course, you can then call yourself a Certified GYROTONIC® Trainer and can advertise yourself as such.

In summation, here are the steps you need to take to become a Certified Gyrotonic Trainer:

1) take private lessons, to gain experience, and prepare you for

2) the Gyrotonic Pre-training Course, which prepares and qualifies you for

3) the Gyrotonic Foundation Course, the completion of which will launch you into

4) the Apprentice Period, which you can take a year to complete, said completion making you eligible for

5) the Gyrotonic Certification Course

(Note: you become Licensed and you can begin teaching clients
once you complete the Foundation Course.)
